Translating proven concepts into prototypes and attractive products
Aqwest is a leading developer of high-average power blue laser transmitters for bathymetry, detection of underwater objects, and remote sensing of ocean ecology from airborne and space-based platforms.
2-micron High-Average Power Pulsed Laser
Aqwest is a leading developer of high-average power 2-micron lasers for remote sensing and industrial applications. Aqwest 2-micron lasers deliver high-pulse energies (up to about 0.5 J) with pulse lengths from nanosecond to microsecond range and are wavelength tunable over >200 nm.
Laser Amplifiers for High-Average Power
Aqwest develops a new generation of high-average power laser oscillators and amplifiers, laser crystals, and ultrafast lasers (UFL) with wavelengths choices ranging from 1 to 2 microns.
Gas-Cooled Disk Modules
The Aqwest gas-cooled amplifier is a subscale demonstrator version of laser driver for inertial confinement fusion (ICF) practiced by the DOE’s National Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) but operating at much higher pulse repetition rates of up to 20 Hz.
Liquid-Cooled Disk Modules
Aqwest liquid-cooled disk laser gain modules offer operation at higher pulse repetition rate and average power. The liquid-cooled EPDL modules are operable at 1 or 2 micron wavelength depending on the choice of laser gain material and pump diodes.
Planar Waveguide Modules
Aqwest is developing planar waveguide (PWG) for high-average power operation at 1 and 2 micron wavelengths. PWG uses a thin ribbon-like LGM (aka “core”) in which the signal beam and the pump co-propagate in the ribbon plane.
