Blue Laser Transmitter
for Mapping, Defense, and Ecology
Aqwest is a leading developer of high-average power blue laser transmitters for bathymetry, detection of underwater objects, and remote sensing of ocean ecology from airborne and space-based platforms. In ecology applications, such remote sensing allows for the observation of polar systems, animal migration, and monitoring of plankton stocks.
Established technologies produce a fixed blue wavelength at low efficiency or a less-desirable blue-green color. In contrast, the Aqwest blue lasers offer high-pulse energy output tunable with a sub-nanometer resolution to specific wavelength features of interest in the blue-green spectrum. Wavelength-agile implementation via scanning over a band of interest is optional. We are now constructing a prototype blue transmitter for a Government customer. This Aqwest solution enables more compact and lighter weight transmitters that can be operated on smaller platforms such as UAV and SmallSat.
